About HomeTechAdviser

Helping you buy better gear with honest, research-driven recommendations.

HomeTechAdviser was started with a simple goal: cut through the noise of sponsored "top 10" lists and help readers find products that are genuinely worth their money. We focus on home tech: smart home devices, home office gear, kitchen gadgets, robot vacuums, home security and Wi-Fi – the products that make everyday life at home easier.

How we choose and review products

  • Research first. We start by studying specifications, manufacturer documentation, expert reviews and thousands of verified owner reviews to build a shortlist.
  • Hands-on testing where possible. When we test a product ourselves we say so clearly in the article, and describe how we tested it.
  • Long-term perspective. We look for reliability, warranty terms and after-sales support – not just day-one impressions.
  • Regular updates. Prices, models and availability change. We revisit our guides and show the "Updated" date on every article.

Editorial independence

Brands cannot pay for a positive review or a spot in our recommendations. Our rankings are decided by our editorial team before we look at which retailers offer affiliate programs.

How we make money

HomeTechAdviser is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site we may earn an affiliate commission – at no extra cost to you. We also display advertising. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details.

Who's behind HomeTechAdviser

HomeTechAdviser was founded by Sekhar, a technology professional who has always been the person friends and family ask before buying a gadget. He started the site to answer those questions properly, in one place – without hype, sponsored rankings or jargon.

HomeTechAdviser is independent. We spend our time on research so you can make a decision quickly: reading manufacturer specifications and manuals, checking certifications and compatibility (Matter, Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home), and studying owner feedback for reliability problems that spec sheets don't show.
